In 1959 Hermès inhouse designer Catherine Chaillet created
a practical and modern bag with a long strap and a big ’H’
to close it.
Since the launch and the birth of her daughter happened
to be on the same day, Chaillet decided to call the bag
’Constance’ like her daughter.
Jackie Kennedy was one of the biggest fans of the
Constance bag.
